Ropelocker’s Royal Order

on

Ropelocker is honoured to have produced this bespoke order for Buckingham Palace!

We have been very busy here creating an order for Buckingham Palace! If you visit the palace this summer, you’ll almost certainly see our ropes in the grounds as you look around. The Team have been working hard to produce the finished products, especially our in-house rigger, Mimi.

Although it has been a hectic few days preparing this order, we are pleased our rope has now been put to use at Buckingham Palace! We are proud to have provided the rope they required so we decided to let you know about our experience.

WHAT DID THEY ORDER?

The spec was for a large set of boundary ropes to mark the public areas around the grounds of Buckingham Palace.

110 x 3.6m x 28mm Hardy Hemp Rope

220 x 28mm Chrome rope hook ends

WHAT WAS THE ORDER? 110 x 3.6m lengths of 24mm Hardy Hemp. Each of these lengths of Hardy Hemp had Chrome hooks fitted to both ends. These ropes are used to mark the public boundaries around the grounds of the palace.

HOW DID WE DO IT?

To begin, we measured out the 110 lengths of Hardy Hemp. After measuring the lengths, we then created a hole in the end of the rope for the screw to go through. We have a special tool for completing this task so just ask if you want us to do the same for you!

To ensure the hole was in the correct place meant placing some masking tape around the end of the rope and marking it with a pen. We slid the cup end onto the edge of the rope so we knewwhere to place the dots for the holes.

Creating the hole in the rope can sometimes be tricky. If it is slightly at the wrong angle they may not meet in the middle. After the order has all the holes in the correct places that go the whole way through the rope, it is time to put the cup ends on. This is the easy part. Then we placed the cup ends on the end of the rope. We placed through the hole and tightened with a screwdriver.

We then boxed the order and it was sent to be fitted to the posts in the palace.

Our decking ropes and boundary ropes are very popular. If you have a requirement for your own garden or public area, please don’t hesitate to contact our friendly team for advice on how to measure up for your project.
